Happy belated Memorial day to everyone. My weekend was pretty exciting and I feel I covered all the necessary basics to have a successful holiday weekend. First, I went down to the MS Coast (Ocean Springs, MS exactly) for a wedding. My friend from college, Sharley, was getting married there. Now I've been to a lot of weddings, but this one turned out to have a twist. About 5 minutes before the wedding was scheduled to start, the power went out in the church due to thunderstorms in the area. After a slight delay, everyone decided the wedding was still to go on! So they gathered up as many candles, flashlights, spotlights etc to make it happen. It ended up being really beautiful and how many people can say they were married by candlelight? Then if that wasn't sweet enough, as we bowed our heads and the Priest read the final prayer, he said and I quote, "Lord, send a blessing unto this couple…" and as he said the word "blessing" the lights came back on and everyone cheered. It was perfect timing and they couldn't have asked for more of a blessing at that moment.

After getting back in town on Sunday I did some yard work and then went to the neighborhood party out on the beach by our lake. Chase was in Chicago for the weekend, so I went with my brother and sister-in-law and had a great time. Good music, good weather, good food, and good company. What else do you need?

Chase got back in town on Monday and we spent most of the day at his sister's house playing in the pool and out on their boat. Then to complete the holiday I went over to dads house to cook out and eat a burger. I feel in order to make Memorial Day complete you must have the following items (in no particular order): family, friends, boat, pool, burger, and a nice cold beverage (or two or three etc…). You get the point. I was successful in accomplishing all of those items, so my Memorial Day = complete success.
