Long Overdue

So, I swear I am still breathing. The past couple of months have been a whirlwind with me finishing school and starting a new job, I haven't had the time to update like I should have. Right now, I am in Tupelo training at our office here and will head back to Jackson on Friday. So here is my best attempt to re-create/re-cap the last couple of months.

First, I helped my old office with a Women Build Habitat House where only women work on the house. And yes, the house is still standing.

I managed to almost kill my roses. Who knew a weekend away in this heat would do that? Good news, they have come back.

And my Crepe Myrtles started to bloom! Yes, I was worried. I get out and spray them with Super Bloom every Sunday (my roses too). It's my attempt at being a gardener. I'm not there yet, but my yard is looking very nice these days!

Chase and I had our 3 year anniversary back in July. Three years later, we were finally able to celebrate with eating the top to our wedding cake. This is typically done on the 1 year anniversary; however, we were in NY for our 1st and 2nd, so that just didn't happen. Even better, it had been de-thawed twice. For the record, I don't really recommend 3 year old cake.

It quickly found itself in the garbage.
Other than celebrating our wedding memories, we spend a lot of our time going to weddings of our friends. Below is a picture from a recent one.

I started a new job 3 weeks ago and will be doing Personal Lines insurance. Once I figure out what that is, I'll be sure to let you know. This is my lovely headshot. I quickly learned that 8:30am and cameras don't really get along together.

So far it has been great though. I was in Chicago last week for a training where my meetings were in the Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower). They had a glass floor that you could walk out on and look down. I don't particularly love heights, so of course I was holding on to the wall the whole time.

Chicago was great. I loved being back in a bigger city. Not that I don't love me some Jackson, MS but I really enjoyed walking around and exploring the city. I also loved being back near fresh bagels. They just aren't the same down here. In addition to a great city, I got to catch up with some great friends. First, I saw an old friend, Kelly, that I haven't seen in 4 or 5 years. I went to her apartment in Wrigleyville where we cooked dinner and drank wine. I also finally got to meet her new fiance, Paul, who I've been hearing about for about 7 years now. I also got to see Chaney who I used to work with in NY. I hadn't seen her in about 2 years and she also recently got in engaged. I was so happy I got to see both of them and meet the new fiances.

Now I'm back and in Tupelo, Mississippi...the birthplace of Elvis. Get excited. That's all I have for now other than a promise to try to get better at keeping up with this blog.
